Niklas Ajo began the Valencian GP with continual improvement on the opening day. After a first session in which he worked on finding a good feeling, the Avant Tecno KTM rider set one of the best laps of the second runout. His 1:41.539 lap was amongst the top ten in FP2, placing him thirteenth overall for the day.
The Finn undertook twenty laps of the Ricardo Tormo circuit in the morning session. He was consistent and was immediately able to best his time from 2012. Despite placing inside the top ten in the first quarter of the session, his penultimate lap of 1:42.126 put him 20th on the timesheet.
Gusts of wind reaching 32km/h in the second session impeded many Moto3 riders from besting their morning times, but that was not the case for Niklas Ajo. He felt good on his bike and upped his pace throughout the session. He was eventually able to work his way into the top ten with a time of 1:41.539.
In qualifying tomorrow, which starts at 12:35pm local time, the Avant Tecno KTM rider will try to improve upon his eighth row position from last year.

“This first day at Valencia didn’t go badly. This morning I started off looking for a good feeling and trying to adapt to the circuit, so that is why the times weren’t great. In the afternoon we improved a little. Obviously the wind made it harder to lower our times —I had to push very hard. The overall feeling isn’t bad and we didn’t have any huge problems, so we have to refine a few details with the setup. Tomorrow we shall focus on riding alone, in order to have the best qualifying session possible.”
