Avant Tecno KTM will start from third row of the grid after qualifying, which he concluded early after a crash.
Niklas Ajo this afternoon took eighth on the grid for the third race of the year: The Grand Prix of Spain. Following the same work strategy initiated yesterday, the Avant Tecno KTM rider started the day with fifth place in the third free practice session. In qualifying, the youngster was running a good pace until a crash ended his on-track action.
In the morning’s free practice, the Avant Tecno KTM rider set his best lap of the weekend with a time of 1’47.453. That put him fifth overall on the combined practice timesheet.
Only an error on his thirteenth lap of the Jerez circuit during the qualifying session prevented Niklas Ajo from continuing his progress at the Andalusian track. He had just clocked his best time of the session when he took a fall, but will start from the third row of the grid for the second race in succession.
The third race of the season starts tomorrow at 11.00am, local time, and Niklas Ajo will try to get the best possible result for further World Championship points.

”I’m OK. This morning I had a really good feeling with the bike, always putting in decent times. In qualifying I was also comfortable, although with the tyres deteriorating we obviously didn’t have as much grip. Nevertheless, I still had a good pace going. With fresh tyres I made a mistake and crashed on Turn 2. I’m fine and not worried about tomorrow, so I will do the best I can.”
