The second day of the Moto3 Official Test at Valencia saw Niklas Ajo continue to put preseason laps under his belt. After a first ride yesterday following the winter break, the Finnish rider today put in a further 40 laps -160km. Lap by lap, Ajo dropped his times until finally clocking a best time of 1’43.624.
Under better conditions than yesterday, with less wind and a cleaner track, Ajo set off at around 11am and quickly matched his times from Day 1. He completed the first session with a fastest lap of 1’43.357, after 17 laps focusing on regaining a feel for the track, braking points and bike limits.
In the hour-long session exclusively for Moto3, the KTM no.31 put in a further 23 laps. Despite a stronger wind that reached 33km/h on the main straight, Ajo lowered his best time by 7 tenths of a second to 1’42.624.
”After the second day, my feeling is pretty good. The bike is new and there are a lot of things to do with it. Today we began to feel good and put in some strong times, bearing in mind how few laps we’ve done. I am still getting some pain in my leg and in one hand, which is stopping me from going at my best, but everything is working fine and I can ride, which is the important thing.”
Tomorrow sees the third and final day of testing in Valencia.
