Niklas Ajo makes another great comeback at Misano

Spectacular showing from Avant Tecno KTM rider moves him up ten places in San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix and takes him to eleventh.

Niklas Ajo produced another of his almost trademark comebacks today at Misano. The Avant Tecno KTM rider had started from 21st on the grid, having only been able to ride for five minutes in the qualifying session on Saturday. He crossed the line eleventh and claimed an important five points for his tally.

A great start for the young Finn allowed him to move up six places on the first sector of the race. As the laps went by, the Avant Tecno KTM rider slotted into the third group in the race, alongside five other riders. The overtakes were constant and everyone was pushing hard, and after 23 intense laps Niklas Ajo took eleventh place in a race won by Alex Rins.

The Avant Tecno KTM was thus in the points for a second consecutive race. He occupies fourteenth in the overall standings with 43 points, heading into the Aragon GP.

”I think that the race wasn’t bad. The grid position could have been better, and if that were the case I could have been up into the next group. But the situation was what it was, and I did the best that I could. I made a good start and was in a continual fight in the group —although I’m a little disappointed that Fenati broke away at the end. We were all slowing each other down a little, and he found a small advantage that we couldn’t pull back.”
