Niklas Ajo looks to turn the page at Mugello

Fifth round of Moto3 season takes places in Italy this weekend, where the Avant Tecno KTM rider will attempt another points-scoring finish.

The World Championship continues for Niklas Ajo and the other riders on the Moto3 grid, as the season moves to northern Italy for the fifth round on the calendar. The end result of the French Grand Prix did not do justice to the performance of the Avant Tecno KTM rider, as he crashed in the race. Eager to get back on his KTM and erase the memory of Le Mans, Niklas Ajo will try to continue with his best start ever in the competition.

Before the French event, the Avant Tecno KTM rider had scored three finishes in the points, including two top ten results in Qatar and Spain. This will be the form to follow at Mugello after the interruption at Le Mans. The tricky 5,245-metre Italian track is characterised by all varieties of rising and descending corners, such as the two arrabiatas on Turns 8 and 9, and its long 1,141-metre straight.

The Finn has already taken a points finish at Mugello. At last season’s Italian Grand Prix, he recovered seventeen places in the race and ended the contest eleventh.

Niklas Ajo,
”I’m fine physically after the crash at Le Mans. I was a little disappointed after the race, because the whole weekend was going well and I crashed because of the error of another rider… But this is part of racing! Now I’m eager to finish well at Mugello. It is a circuit similar to a roller coaster, with continuous rises and falls. I love racing there because with a Moto3 it is a very fast track. Last year was difficult and I had to work very hard all weekend, but in the race I improved a lot and finished eleventh after starting from twenty-eighth on the grid. This year my first objective will be to improve my starting position.”
