Avant Tecno KTM rider lowers best lap time in each session on day three in Jerez.
Today was an important day of work for Niklas Ajo in Jerez. The Avant Tecno KTM rider took advantage of good weather at the Andalusian track, making up for time lost yesterday because of rain. Niklas rode 58 laps and improved his best time in every session.
Good weather at the Circuito de Jerez allowed Niklas Ajo to go out on track shortly before midday. Despite a small, harmless crash at Turn 5, the session served to establish a dry setup for his bike. In the second session, the Avant Tecno KTM rider put in laps from the first possible minute, completing 17 laps and finally improving the time set in the morning with a 1’49.156 lap.
In the final runout, the Finnish rider further lowered his best lap time by over a second, ending the day with a 1:47.787 that put him 8th on the timesheet.
The fourth and final day of the Jerez test – and the 2013 preseason – takes place tomorrow.
”Today was a much better day, because obviously the weather improved a lot. Our feeling on the bike also improved. We had much less chatter and I also improved my riding a little -I think that this was the most important thing. Before, I found it harder to ride comfortably and now I have managed to adapt a little better. So I’m happy with that. The feeling was good from the start and I didn’t have to force things to get good times, nor follow anyone. I am happy, because we improved a lot.”
