Avant Tecno KTM rider achieves eighth fastest time of the night at the Losail International Circuit.
Tonight at Losail, Niklas Ajo began his Moto3 World Championship campaign in earnest, onboard his KTM machine. The Avant Tecno KTM rider took strong results in the first two free practice sessions of the season, going eighth fastest overall with a 2’08.581 lap.
The young Finn made the most of the 40 minutes of the first free practice session for the Grand Prix of Qatar. Despite the sand that covered the asphalt of the Losail International Circuit and the 27ºC temperature, Niklas Ajo continued with the setting up of his KTM bike, riding 14 laps and recording the twelfth fastest time of the session ─2’10.463.
It was a lap time that the Avant Tecno KTM rider smashed two hours later. In the seventh of fourteen laps in the second runout, Niklas Ajo bested the time by almost two seconds for a 2’08.581.
Satisfied with the progress made on night one, the Finn’s work will continue tomorrow with a single free practice session.
”Today was very positive. I improved my lap time substantially in the second practice session and my feeling on the bike is very good at this track. I will have to focus in practice tomorrow and in qualifying on Saturday. We will finish off configuring all the details in order to improve our times a little, and try to do the same lap time alone.”
